PISMO STUDENATA UNIVERZITETA U TORONTU PREDSJEDNIKU UNIVERZITETA U VANKUVERU

Dear President Stephen J. Toop,

We, the students at the University of Toronto are  writing to you concerning the upcoming Srdja Trifkovic lecture, hosted by University of British Columbia’s Serbian Club. As Canadians and Muslims who strongly believes in human rights and justice we are shocked and appalled to hear that your world renowned university is hosting an individual who openly denies the Srebrenica Genocide and expresses his hate for Islam.

Mr. Trifkovic is not only a Srebrenica genocide denier; his academic work incites religious hatred and violence. Allowing Trifkovic to lecture at UBC promotes harm and hate towards Muslim students at UBC.  It is unacceptable to teach young intellectuals such hate and intolerance in a country that promotes tolerance, multiculturalism and peace.

We are truly concerned about University of British Columbia’s decision to host Srdja Trifkovic on Thursday, February 24th, 2011. Allowing him to spread his messages of hate, nationalism and intolerance is against the Canadian values and as citizen we are against his visit. With this letter we ask that the university administration takes the appropriate steps in preventing Mr. Srdja Trifkovic from holding his lecture on the grounds of University of British Columbia. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Aldina Muslija
