Today I was honoured to participate in the ceremony recognizing the genocide of Srebrenica where 8,373 (more to still be identified) Bosniak men and boys were executed. 15 years ago I was there with my friend Senad Alicehajic Alma Senad to be part of ceremonies to represent the recognition of this in Canadian Parliament, where to this day some of our materials are with the exhibit in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to help tell the story. Humanity still struggles with our inability to find compassion and justice over those who hate and destroy for reasons of race, religion and culture. The museum has exhibits on Indigenous Peoples, The Holocaust, The Holodomor, The Armenian, Rwandan and Srebrenicia genocide. My trip to Bosnia ???????? will always remind me that it is crucial to speak and take action to stem the forces of violence. It was great to visit with old and new friends including my hero Emir Ramic. Thank you to all who visited from the GTA, Hamilton and our US friends.
